Class Descriptions

Government: This one trimester course emphasizes the structure of how we govern ourselves. Students will have frequent opportunities to apply the knowledge they gain to "real-life" as there will be a strong emphasis on current issues and events in our society and community.

Economics: This one trimester course will examine fundamental economic theory, various economic models and will emphasize current issues in the world and U.S. economies. Students will participate in a "Stock Market" simulation game. Half of our time will be spent on Personal Finance: budgeting, financial planning, etc.

Sociology: not currently being offered

U.S. History: Into the 21st Century: This course will examine the history of the United States beginning mid-20th century, following World War II, and will focus on the Modern Civil Rights movement, the Cold War, and the War on Terror, along with other events and issues. All students are strongly urged to take this class in order to fulfill requirements towards a Core 40 diploma.
