Conditions of Enrollment
Your enrollment
at the Aurora Alternative High School is voluntary. However, to remain
enrolled as a student in good standing you must meet the following expectations
and conditions. These policies and procedures are designed to ensure a
successful educational experience and maintain a positive learning environment
for all students. By signing this form, the student agrees to abide by all
conditions and expectations indicated. Any violation of this enrollment
agreement by the student will result in the student appearing before an Appeal
Board or Staff Review Board to show cause why they should retain enrollment
privileges, or may result in that student being dropped from the Aurora High
School enrollment.
1. The student must
enroll in four (4) classes, and is expected to earn credit in each class in
which s/he is enrolled. Students are expected to attend school every day to
ensure their chances of success at Aurora. Students having more than five (5)
absences in any one class during any school trimester may be subject to Appeal
Board or Staff Review Board to retain enrollment privileges, regardless of any
reason for these absences.
2. The student will
not visit or go on the school grounds of any other MCCSC school between the
hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., unless on official school business and with
express permission of that school building principal and the principal of
Aurora High School.
3. The student will
not interfere with the learning process of other students through any
disrespectful behavior such as: theft of personal or school property,
destruction/abuse of personal or school property, threatening other people,
excessive tardiness or interfering with Aurora Alternative High School’s
ability to provide a positive learning experience for other students.
4. The student
shall treat all Aurora High School members, student and staff both, with respect
and dignity at all times.
Students who
violate any of the previous four policies may request an appeal board for
continued enrollment at Aurora High School.
5. Possession, use,
or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol of any kind, other than those
legally prescribed by a physician for medical treatment, or possessing
paraphernalia intended for the use of same, on or within two blocks of school
boundaries, may be cause for immediate removal from the school enrollment until
a Staff Review may be convened to determine continued enrollment status of the
student. Any student knowingly in the company of a person or persons who
violate this rule may be considered equally in violation of this rule.
6. Fighting on or
within two blocks of school boundaries will be cause for permanent removal from
the school enrollment with no chance for appeal. Students encouraging or
inciting others to fight may be considered equally in violation of this rule.
I have read,
understand, and agree to abide by the Conditions of the Enrollment as stated
above.
